Home School Learning in Blue 7
Home reading books will be in your child's bag each night. We ask that you try to read every evening with your child and write a small comment in the record book. This will help us to update any reading or spelling targets as well as focus on any specific areas of difficulty. On a Friday evening, pupils will be sent home a 'weekend news' worksheet to complete with their grown-ups. When pupils return to school on Monday, we talk and write about our weekend news as part of our English and communication lesson.
Key areas of learning this Summer term
In English, Blue 7 will be doing 'Rumble in the jungle'.
In Maths, we will be covering mass, capacity and time
In Science, Y6 pupils will be learning about fossils and comparing fossils to animals that are alive now. This will then follow on to looking at their inheritance and characteristics.
In Science, Y5 pupils will be looking at changing states and will look at turning liquids into a solid (through chocolate!) and producing new materials.
In PSHE, we will be learning about human development. This will also extend their learning through the current grown up sessions that are taking place.
In Geography, pupils are looking at the Global trade. Pupils will explore foods from different countries and pupils will create a tuck shop with their class peers.
In Computing, pupils will design their own mats and use beebots to navigate their way around their mats and their peers mats.
In RE, we will continue our learning about Christianity. We will look at the 'wonders of the world' in the school grounds and talk about how we look after our Earth.
