Group Learning

At Benton Dene, teachers carefully consider the needs of individual children. Within lessons, teachers may choose for children to work together in a group with either a teacher, teaching assistant or independently. Group work activities can be an effective way to motivate children, encourage active learning and develop critical thinking skills. Working in a group can also allow children to further develop their interpersonal and communication skills.

A number of strategies to support children may also be used, such as Makaton signing, TEACCH and PECS.
